FALL – WINTER – SPRING SCHEDULE

PUERTA AL TANGO

Graham holds weekly classes and a practicum at Las Puertas,  occasional special series
classes in addition to two monthly Saturday evening events!

Weekly:

Tuesdays 6pm – 7:30pm Jardineres Class exploring the essentials of natural
tango movements, focused more on the followers.  The Why’s and How’s.  “Jardineres”
because like native gardeners, in tango we must constantly pay attention to the weeds
(bad habits) for our dance to thrive, naturally.
$20 drop-in OR one punch on a Punchcard-8 ($15).

Tuesdays 7:45pm – 9:45pm Practicum – guided, structured and honing good
floorcraft while also building community.  We work in line-of-dance and switch partners
every 2-song tandita.  Group intentions.  We get to work really practicing!
Open to all dancers. Please note we work on the week’s theme (curricula
common theme) as a group.  No ganchos, leg wraps, no lifts at this practicum.
$20 drop-in OR one punch on a Punchcard-8 ($15).

Wednesdays 6pm – 7:30pm Foundations | Brass Tacks Class focuses on
the How’s the Where’s of how we connect as dancers in this dance.  This is a
revolving curricula, not a series.  It is the best place to start if you already have a little
experience but need a complete reset and start over.  We work on building strong
foundations understanding the dance and the social aspects so that later you can enjoy
whichever you prefer.
$20 drop-in OR one punch on a Punchcard-8 ($15).

Thursdays 6pm-7:30pm La Caminata Class where we hone and explore the vast
richness of the walk.  This is a challenging class suitable for any dancer who has
completed the Fundamentals class series and/or has a sound foundation.  La Caminita
(the walk) is the dance.  Without a natural walk to the music you’ll miss out on the vast
beauty of this dance.  includes a “walking practica” from 7:35pm to 7:55pm.
$20 drop-in OR one punch on a Punchcard-8($15).

Thursdays 8pm-9:30pm El Roce Class.  This will be one of the more challenging
classes offered.  El Roce centers upon the gathering, centering and seeking the dance
between movements.  Tango exists more when we are not traveling, but more so
gathering and listening to the music together.  DANCERS MUST have a competent
understanding of tango movement and social etiquette for this class.  If you were lead to
believe that “the brush” is something simple as a “collect” come out and discover the
endlessly rich landscape of what “the sweep” (rozar) actually is.  Contact Graham.
$20 drop-in OR one punch on a Punchcard-8($15)

Puerta al Tango focuses on sound body mechanics, fluid connections, equality in the
dance, equality in the mindset, and keeping tango an expression of our own selves
through carefully guided curricula.
