When:  Friday, March 6th                                                                                                                                                 Join the NM Philharmonic Friday evening for refreshments and a performance by the students involved in this wonderful program.  There will be a Silent Auction to help raise money so students can continue with their learning music via the Young Musician Initiative.

The Young Musician Initiative (YMI) is a pilot program being implemented as part of the New Mexico Philharmonic’s No Child Without Music campaign. Fashioned after the highly successful Venezuelan youth orchestra program, El Sistema, YMI is a daily after-school program which began at one Albuquerque elementary school the end of 2012. Children from Kindergarten to 5th grade learn teamwork and leadership skills through experience in string ensemble and choir, while participating in their local community through performances for families, school groups, senior centers, first responders, and more.
