NM Philharmonic Young Musicians Initiative (El Sistema) Fundraiser

When:  Friday, March 6th                                                                                                                                                 Join the NM Philharmonic Friday evening for refreshments and a performance by the students involved in this wonderful program.  There will be a Silent Auction to help raise money so students can continue with their learning music via the Young Musician Initiative.

The Young Musician Initiative (YMI) is a pilot program being implemented as part of the New Mexico Philharmonic’s No Child Without Music campaign. Fashioned after the highly successful Venezuelan youth orchestra program, El Sistema, YMI is a daily after-school program which began at one Albuquerque elementary school the end of 2012. Children from Kindergarten to 5th grade learn teamwork and leadership skills through experience in string ensemble and choir, while participating in their local community through performances for families, school groups, senior centers, first responders, and more.

Tools for developing a good circulation and utilization of the dance floor

Saturday (@ Studio Roma)
1:00pm to 2:30pm – Play with the Rhythm
Have fun with the basic steps through the rhythm
3:00pm to 4:30pm – Caminatas and their Variations of Speed
Techniques to develop a good transmission of the body movement

8:00pm to Midnight – Milonga de Las Puertas with a special performance by Pablo & Eva

Sunday (@ Studio Roma)
1:00pm to 2:30pm – Milonga Lisa y Traspie
Combinations of steps with/without traspie
3:00pm to 4:30pm – Direction Changes
Direction Changes gives you the change to start dancing in a crowded dance floor without losing the fun

Full weekend which is all 5 classes + Milonga is $100 per person, $150 per couple. Drop in is $25 per person per class  Pablo & Eva Workshop Registration Form

Albuquerque Fusion eXploration 2015 (ABQFX 2015) is a 2-track blues/fusion event.   It follows in the footsteps of previous Albuquerque events Duke City Blues (2009), Enchanted Blues (2010), and Atomic Blues Fusion (2011-2013) – continuing their tradition of bringing great teachers and dancers from around the country to Albuquerque. Like all fusion events, ABQFX 2015 embraces partner dancing across and beyond traditional dance-genre lines.
